That's right, after just one summer, Spring Mountain Day Camp won the coveted title of Best Summer Camp in Montgomery County according to Montco Happening List! We guess it was all the hiking, river tubing, yard games, crafts, LEGOs, pool days and general good old outdoor FUN that won over the hearts of local families. Good thing, because that's exactly what owners Nick and Sean set out to create on the mountain. Spring Mountain Day Camp is all the perks of a traditional sleep-a-way camp in a day camp format. Accepting campers from ages 4-14, each themed week brings new activities and ideas.
Word has spread and camps are quickly filling (several weeks are already at capacity)! If you've been toying with the idea of sending your child to a week of camp this summer, but haven't yet committed, I'm here to tell you now is the TIME!! You can enroll online, or attend the last Open House of the season on May 24th from 12pm-3pm, sign up here! Wondering what your child will do at day camp? Take a look a a typical schedule as well as laundry list of activities happening this summer at camp.
Sample Schedule
8:30am to 9:00am - Campers arrive and gather in their camp groups. Counselors run age specific games and activities at their designated spot.
9:15am to 10:15am - Campers will participate in 1 of 4 activity options of their choosing. All activities are in the same area and maintain a 1-8 Counselor Camper ratio.
10:30am to 12:00pm - Campers will participate in an large age group sport or outdoor activity and the Activity will be run by a age group supervisor and will be maintained by a 1-8 counselor to camper ratio.
12:00pm to 1:00pm - Campers will eat lunch with their group and counselor.
1:15pm to 2:15pm - Campers will participate in 1 of 4 activity options of their choosing. All activities are in the same area and maintain a 1-8 Counselor Camper ratio.
2:30pm to 3:30pm - Campers will participate in an large age group sport or outdoor activity and the Activity will be run by a age group supervisor and will be maintained by a 1-8 counselor to camper ratio.
3:30 - 4:00pm - Campers will be picked up by their parents or they will head to the after care zone until they are picked up.
As a 2024 Spring Mountain Day Camp parent, I can personally attest to the fact that the "Best Summer Camp in Montgomery County" Award was well deserved. My daughter came home everyday thrilled to go back and has been patiently awaiting her return this summer. But don't just take it from me; here are other reviews of camp:
"My boys absolutely LOVED Spring Mount Day Camp! They told me they want to spend their entire summer there. I’ve been looking for a camp for a few years now that would get them out in nature, exploring, creating and working with others. This camp checks all the boxes and then some. I originally only signed my older two up (ages 10 and 8), but when I dropped them off my 5 year old told me how much he wanted to go to. I picked a day with Nick for him to join his brothers at camp, and he loved it so much he went back the rest of the week. Nick also went above and beyond to make sure my 8 year old could join in all activities despite his hip disease by driving him to various parts of the mountain when hiking was too much for him. I have seen Nick and a couple of the counselors working with children (my own included) at Spring Mount in the winter, and they really are SO fabulous with the kids. I am a worry wart momma when it comes to my baby, each counselor made me feel at ease leaving my son in their hands.
